Seasons of the Soul is about threshold pilgrimage — the movement from one spiritual season of our lives to another, with all the emotion, struggle and desolation that might entail.

It harks back to a Celtic Christian conference that Clucas went on years before this body of work, where the Seasons of the Soul were spoken about, and which she explored at the time through her art. The idea remained with her, and with her renewed interest in pilgrimage she returned to the theme. In the work Clucas incorporated fabrics that held personal meaning to her as part of the four mixed media pieces forming Seasons of the Soul.
